Love and Loss

Last weekend we tragically lost our beautiful bundle of joy in our garden. Henry was a red cocker spaniel, supposedly working and if you count making sure everyone has a smile then he worked hard. This is a hard post, but I’m hoping it will be therapeutic and also a place for me to refer back to. Henry was gifted to us at 3 and half months old, having lived in 3 different homes already. A baby and yet he was already house trained by the previous carer, so we never had any accidents. He never showed anything but love to anyone and seemed very sensitive to individuals and other dogs needs. He did however love to run off to say hi, his recall was a work in progress, but I was never concerned as I knew he would stop about 2 meters away and just wiggle. Sounds of laughter at this scene were commonplace.

His death in our garden was sudden and we were all in shock. I was grateful that the children were all able to call over on the Monday. Tears have been shed, the house is so quiet, yet his presence is everywhere. Even the cat seems confused, wandering about the house, looking for him.
